Madelief

What is the First Year Guardian?

Your First Year Guardian is your "mother" here at Madelief. The FYG is responsible for being your mentor, and means of guidance as you embark on this journey of residence-life. The FYG will be your first line of communication and attempt to make the transition from high school to university as comfortable as possible. Your FYG will always be more than willing to assist you with questions or queries.

Need to knows for Dahlias

You will receive official communication from the university that you are placed in Madelief, and thereafter your first year guardian will be in communication with you.

A first year in Madelief is called a DAHLIA, which is a member of the daisy flower family. Throughout the year, a dahlia will blossom into a true Madeliefie.

The semi's and seniors in Madelief are called "Mademoiselle".

The house committee is always there to help you look after your mental and physical health.

Madelief will help shape you into the best version of yourself.

At Madelief, we stand united in everything that we do, and we stand firm in our saying: "No dahlia left behind."

Why being a Dahlia is exciting

Being a Dahlia is very exciting, as this is the start of your journey in Madelief. As a Dahlia, you get to know new people, you get to know yourself, your perspective changes, and you become familiar with the Madelief values, that you will ultimately carry with you going forward in life.
